
Gregory S. Johnson
Currently serving as the Program Director for the EMS Academy at Columbia State Community College, Gregory S. Johnson is focused, passionate, and experienced in both the practice of prehospital emergency medicine and its instruction. He joined Columbia State Community College in 2018 and began devoting full time service, serving both as a faculty member and Program Coordinator before becoming Program Director in 2022.
Prior to joining Columbia State Community College in 2018, Greg served in various roles from HR Manager to Elected Township Fiscal Officer while practicing prehospital emergency medicine in various clinical roles and capacities, and at various licensure levels. Greg currently serves as a chair for the Tennessee State EMS Board Education Committee and is an active member of the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, National Association of Emergency Medical Services Educators, and Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Educators Association (Treasurer), and Tennessee Association of Emergency Medical Services Providers (Co-Founder and Treasurer.) Aside from his full time role as an educator, Greg spends time serving as Training Center Coordinator for the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the American Heart Association, conducting research, speaking at conferences, and engaging other EMS instructors in various workshops and clinical settings.
Gregory S. Johnson was born and raised in Murfreesboro, TN. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2011, an Associate of Science in Paramedicine from the University of Cincinnati in 2013, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Louisiana State University in 2020.
Greg is married to his wife Nicole Hughes-Johnson, an oncology nurse with Tennessee Oncology, and resides in Middle Tennessee with his two daughters and their extended families. Greg focuses his life on serving the almighty God, his family, his students, and his community.
